Celebrity Appearances Scheduled for Roar® 2017

ERIE — Pittsburgh Steeler James Conner, Jackyl frontman Jesse James Dupree, and bike builders Rick Fairless and Zach Ness, will make special celebrity appearances at the 2017 Roar on the Shore® charitable bike rally, set for July 12, 13, 14, 15 & 16 in downtown Erie. All media are invited to attend.

Erie’s own James Conner, a former McDowell High School and Pitt running back who was selected by the Pittsburgh Steelers with the 105th overall selection in the 2017 NFL Draft, will be available for a public autograph signing at this year’s Roar® rally. The signing will be held from 5 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. Friday, July 14, on the Block Party Stage. Please note: No sports memorabilia will be signed. His appearance is sponsored by Industrial Sales & Mfg. in Erie and Ridg-U-Rak, Inc. in North East.

Jesse James Dupree also will be on hand for an exclusive bottle signing of his signature bourbon from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday, July 12, on the Block Party Stage. Donation is $25 and includes the bottle signing and photo op. (Pre-order at www.roarontheshore.com.) Later that night, Dupree will perform with his band Jackyl during the Fallen Riders Memorial Concert at 9 p.m. on the Country Fair Main Stage.

In addition, Fairless and Ness, grandson of bike-building legend Arlen Ness, will unveil two custom motorcycles from the 2017 Allstate Biker Buildoff at 8:30 p.m. Thursday, July 13, on the Country Fair Main Stage. According to organizers, each builder was given $60,000 and five months to build the bikes. The builds started back in early January. Allstate will have ballot boxes featured onsite in front of each motorcycle that attendees will be able to submit their vote for their personal favorite. The voting will run through the end of the Sturgis Motorcycle rally and conclude August 12; the winner will be announced on Allstate’s motorcycle Facebook page.

At 1 p.m. Saturday, July 15, Allstate also will hand over the keys to its Slingshot sweepstakes winner on the Roar’s® Block Party Stage on State Street. The winner registered at the 2016 Roar® rally.
