Rock ‘n' Roar To Be Headlined by Legendary Rockers Blue Oyster Cult
Organizers of the second annual Roar on the Shore™ are proud to
announce that veteran rockers Blue Öyster Cult will headline the Rock
’n’ Roar Show at 6:30 p.m. Saturday, July 19 at Liberty Park/Pepsi
Amphitheater along Presque Isle Bay.
Named by VH1 as one of the greatest hard
rock bands of all time, Blue Öyster Cult’s career has spanned four
decades and spawned memorable rock hits including “(Don’t Fear) The
Reaper,” “Godzilla” and “Burnin’ for You.”
A special opening act by an extreme motorcycle stunt team is also
planned. Advance general admission tickets for Rock ’n’ Roar will go on
sale February 22.
Roar on the Shore™ is planned for July 17 – 20, 2008 and all proceeds will benefit the Erie Shriners Hospitals for Children.
“The pieces are continuing to fall into place to make the second
annual Roar on the Shore™ a ‘do-not-miss-event’,” said Seth Tuttle,
chairman of the Roar on the Shore™ Board of Directors. “This is a key
piece to helping us reach our goals for the Shriners Hospitals charity.”
The main hub of activity for this year’s rally will be Perry Square
in downtown Erie with local, regional and national musical acts
performing on the main stage. In addition, there will be merchandise
and food vendors throughout the Square.
Special guest appearances will include Michele Smith, host of the
Speed Channel’s “American Thunder” show and Rhett Rotten, the
self-described “Intimidator of Death”. Smith will be the mistress of
ceremonies for the Roar on the Shore™ bike contest. Rotten will bring
his Wall of Death stunt show to Perry Square, defying gravity by riding
his motorcycle inside a barrel.
